For many, New Zealand is the dream destination par excellence. Nature lovers from all parts of the world are drawn in particular to the South Island of the country. Once there, they generally set their sights on the picturesque region of Queenstown. The city of adventure is located idyllically to the east of the New Zealand Alps and directly on Lake Wakatipu. A private individual was taken by a location on the edge of town and had house designed for just this spot. It is a house that does more than just simply fit perfectly into the lush natural setting. The residence also amazes viewers with its cool architecture and materials that consciously accentuate nature and create a powerful country home style.

The performance specification that the customer handed the team from Hyndman Taylor Architects contained very clear requirements: A contemporary, minimalistic styled house should be created, a home in which natural building materials would create a warm atmosphere. To meet these requirements, the architects decided to use building materials from the area itself. Slate, cedar wood, naturally burnt tiles and lots and lots of glass create the desired radiance and warmth in the home. The customer also wanted one other thing as well: fantastic views of the area. The solution: huge window fronts that offer breathtaking views of Coronet Peak, the Arrotown region and the nearby golf course.
As part of the wall and ceiling mounting, HARO parquet was chosen as panelling for several wall areas and for the ceiling in the dining area and the entrance. The parquet Oak Shell Grey Markant was selected for the ceilings, and the architects chose Oak Carbon Black for the wall panelling. The dark types of wood create a homey atmosphere of light, regardless of the time of day, and highlight the country home style and the cosy warmth of this impressive building.
HARO Flooring New Zealand has demonstrated once again that HARO is always the perfect solution for very special customer needs and professionally carries them out.
